Botox and Profhilo both fight wrinkles, but target them differently. Botox relaxes muscles for smoother skin, while Profhilo boosts hydration and elasticity. Learn which is right for you!
It’s no secret that youthful, rejuvenated skin is a common desire in society which is why so many people invest in professional aesthetic treatments. Two words often come up in a search for the best solutions – Botox and Profhilo. Both of them are highly effective at enhancing the appearance of the skin – however, they are not the same. Today, let’s illuminate the differences between Botox and Profhilo.
What are the compositions?
Botulinum toxin (Botox) is a neurotoxin that when injected into your skin, temporarily paralyzes the muscles it reaches. Results you can expect include smoothened-out wrinkles and fine lines, providing you with a more youthful, rested appearance.
Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid treatment which means it uses a substance naturally found in your skin, joints, and connective tissues. Profhilo injections are fantastic at stimulating your skin’s collagen and elastin production, which provides you with improved skin hydration and elasticity.
What are the processes?
The job of Botox is to block nerve signals to prevent your muscles from contracting. It is especially useful if you have dynamic wrinkles from repeated facial expressions, for example, frown lines or crow’s feet.
The job of Profhilo is to add volume to your complexion while stimulating the natural production of collagen and elastin. Profhilo enables you to affect your skin at a deeper level, which makes it effective at reducing sagging skin and replenishing a loss of firmness.
What are the applications?
Botox is injected directly into specific muscles using a fine needle. It is a quick treatment after which you can return to your regular activities immediately.
Profhilo’s application is very similar – injections are made into specific areas of the face, and you can return to your normal routine immediately – however, there is one main difference here. Profhilo spreads beneath the skin thereby adding volume and improving your skin’s overall quality.
What are the results & duration?
The results of your Botox treatment can be expected a few days after your session. The effects usually last 4 or 5 months. When they begin to fade, it will be time for your next treatment.
Profhilo requires at least two sessions to achieve the best results. These initial sessions are usually performed 4 to 6 weeks apart. You will notice the effects a few weeks after your treatment. The results from your Profhilo treatment can be expected to last 6 to 8 months. Just like with Botox, when the effects fade, you can return for your next session.
How to know which is for you?
If you wish to address forehead lines, crow’s feet, frown lines, or any other dynamic wrinkle caused by muscle movement, Botox is the right solution for you.
However, if your concern is skin dehydration, lack of suppleness, or the appearance of fine lines, Profhilo will give you optimal results. Many people like Profhilo because the result is often more natural and it provides a more complete improvement in your skin’s quality.
Can you have Botox and Profhilo?
Two questions we often hear from our clients after they learn about the difference between Botox and Profhilo are “Can I have both?” and “Can I have both on the same day?” The answer to both questions is yes. Many of our clients have sessions involving both and sometimes with other treatments alongside them on the same day.
