9 easy and useful tips to better your wellbeing

Wellness—or an overall feeling of well-being—indicates a healthy balance of the mind, body and spirit. It is the constant, conscious pursuit of living life to its fullest potential, where a continuum of balance and purposeful direction in life is maintained. This of course, involves making significant lifestyle changes.

Wellness Tips and tricks

Focus on the positives

Instead of trying to fix a negative in your life, make your goal based on your ideal. For example, instead of “I need to loose 15 pounds”  (a massive downer), say, “I will get leaner and stronger” (a positive). This approach will help you stay motivated and move past your thoughts about why you haven’t succeeded in the past.

Prioritise

Address each goal one at a time and consider how much effort and money will be involved in each. If you don’t, it’ll be easy to get overwhelmed. Then, ask yourself how important each goal is. Which one do you want to accomplish first? Which one will have the greatest impact on your happiness? Then you can design a realistic plan.

Get at the why

Digging for the real reason you’re trying to achieve something will give your goal a more meaningful value and help you overcome potential roadblocks or setbacks. For instance, are you really trying to loose weight for your high school reunion - or is it because feeling better about yourself will give you more confidence in every situation in your life?

Be specific

Make a list of the necessary tasks and resources you’ll need to hit the end point, then create a plan for what you will do every day, breaking it down to small, doable steps. For example, if your goal is to spend more time with your family, write, “I will spend 30 minutes playing with the kids each night,” or “I will run errands after work or during my lunch hour so I’m free to lounge with my spouse Saturday morning.”

Stay open to help

Never underestimate the power of community when it comes to achieving goals, whether its someone to give you advice, whine to or hold you accountable. Enlist a workout buddy, nutritionist, financial adviser or any number of other people and pros to help you achieve your dream.

Record your efforts

Write down everything you’re doing to reach your goal. Celebrating your successes will give you an outlet for tracking your progress, which can help you fine-tune your plan and stay motivated along the way.

Vitamin C is a Life Saver

At the first sign of a sore throat and the sniffles, don’t just pull the covers over your head and stay in bed. Hit the vitamin C full-force to stimulate antibodies and boost your immune system. The key is to prevent disease before having to cure it instead

Tub Scrub

In a bid to contribute to saving our world from free radicals, try a  a non-toxic but effective way to scrub the tub. Add one teaspoon of liquid soap and several drops of antibacterial essential oil (such as tea tree, eucalyptus, rosemary or peppermint) to one cup of baking soda. Add enough water to form a paste, consistently stirring the mixture. Now you have your environmentally-friendly and effective anti-bacterial bath tub scrub.

Massage

There are different reasons why people go for a massage, each for their own needs. Benefits vary from physical, emotional, to mental ones. Whatever the reason, regular massage can assist in keeping you physically ready and mentally fresh for the hustle and bustle of city life. Keeping stress at bay is a key benefit of massage therapy.
