Hydrate and cool your body

August 29, 2017

As we all know, the intense, daily heat at this time of year can put a tremendous strain on the body

Hydrate and cool your body

Drink plenty of water and boost it up by adding some Himalayan crystal salts. Just one or two crystals in your bottle of water will suffice (please avoid plastic bottles, especially in this heat). Besides giving you the sodium you require, it also has Sulphate, Magnesium, Calcium, Potassium, Bicarbonate, Bromide, Borate, Strontium, and Fluoride (in descending order of quantity). This will help to:

  • Create an electrolyte balance
  • Increase hydration
  • Regulate water content both inside and outside of cells
  • Balance pH (alkaline/acidity) and help to reduce acid reflux
  • Prevent muscle cramping
  • Aid in proper metabolism functioning
  • Strengthen bones
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Help the intestines absorb nutrients
  • Prevent goiters
  • Improve circulation
  • Dissolve and eliminate sediment to remove toxins

This is far more beneficial than any energy drink and can help prevent children from getting migraine headaches from being out in the sun all day as well.

Drink coconut water in the morning or right after your workout. You are now in the land of fresh coconut water. Coconut water is a great source of electrolytes - such as potassium - necessary for proper hydration. It doesn’t have the added sugar and artificial flavouring and colours that other sports drinks have.

Drink local herbal tea – Chinese Aster tea. This tea is great tasting so there is no need to add any sugar. You can have it hot or cold. Chinese Aster tea relieves thirst, reduces fever and is a tonic as well.

Have plenty of greens in your diet. Greens alkalise your body. With stress of traffic, heat and pollution in Bangkok – you will do your body a great favour by adding some nutrients and minerals found in greens to it.

The body’s PH is measured on a scale of 0 to 14. Midrange at seven is where PH is balanced. Anything below seven is acidic and the state where body does not function as designed. The body thrives in a slightly alkaline state.

Most cells within the body, especially the blood, function best when they are slightly alkaline. In fact our body goes to great lengths to maintain the blood’s alkaline balance, stealing alkaline minerals (such as calcium) from our cells and bones to protect the blood from acidity if too many of the wrong foods are eaten.

Alkalising foods: Wheat grass, cucumber, spirulina, chlorella, alfalfa, kale, and green tea. You can find one of these in the form of powder and add it to your daily juice or smoothie.
