Dr. Deepak Ajit Singh


Dr. Deepak Ajit Singh completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur in 1993 and after completing his housemanship at Muar Hospital, Johor, he gained full registration with the Malaysian Medical Council. He worked as a Senior Medical Officer in Orthopaedic surgery at the Kuala Terengganu Hospital in Terengganu before gaining entry to the Orthopaedic Masters Training Programme in the University of Malaya from 1996 to 2000.

Upon completion of his post-graduate training in Orthopaedics, he obtained his post-graduate (Masters) degree in Orthopaedics from the University of Malaya in 2000 and also obtained the fellowship by examination of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 2000. Dr. Deepak left the University of Malaya in 2000 to start work as a Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedics in Malacca Hospital. During this time, he was also appointed to teach medical students at the Malacca Manipal Medical College. In 2003, Dr. Deepak was appointed the Head of Orthopaedics in Malacca Hospital and Associate Professor in Orthopaedics in Malacca Manipal Medical College.

Later in 2003, Dr. Deepak returned to the University of Malaya to further his interest and training in Spine Surgery. He worked as a Specialist Lecturer at the University of Malaya Medical Centre from 2003 to 2008. During this time, Dr. Deepak traveled for training in Spine Surgery to various centres around the world to fill the gaps in his knowledge. Dr. Deepak has done training every aspect of spine surgery including Microscopic Spine Surgery (Munich), Endoscopic Spine Surgery with laser application in spine surgery (Korea) and a short fellowship in new techniques in open spine surgery and pain management for the spine (Brisbane). Dr. Deepak was heading the spine unit in the University of Malaya Medical Centre from 2006 to 2008. In 2007, Dr. Deepak was also appointed to the post of Associate Professor in Orthopaedics (Spine Surgery) in the University of Malaya.
